Hi! I’m Sam. Welcome to The Lovebugs Blog!
The Lovebugs Blog was established in August 2012 as a means for me to share my favorite recipes, as well as knowledge I picked up in culinary school. It has since evolved into a food, DIY, and lifestyle blog where I share my favorite recipes, crafts, home improvement projects, organization ideas, home and seasonal decorations, tips and tricks and so much more.
Here’s a little info about me:
I am married to my best friend, My Love, and we are parents to two amazing little ladies named Lovebug (6) and Little Lovebug (2), Littlebug for short. No, those aren’t their real names, although I gave it some serious consideration.
I grew up in the Bay Area, CA and swore I would never leave… We moved to Arizona in 2008 and haven’t looked back.
We purchased our first home in late 2008. It was a new build spec home, so we had very little input on the layout, materials, etc., but we love most everything about it.
We moved four times in four years prior to buying your house. So, I will never move again. Ever.
I treated my addiction for desserts (anything sweet, really) at the California Culinary Academy (now Le Cordon Bleu San Francisco), where I earned a certificate in Baking and Pastry Arts.
I studied Human Resource Management in college and work full time as a technical recruiter. I’m kind of a big deal because it is quite rare to find someone in HR who actually studied HR. 🙂
I studied abroad when I was in college. I enrolled in a french language program at the University of Paris, Sorbonne and lived with my aunt and her family for six months during that time. I may or may not have gained 20 pounds as a result of the delicious food my uncle, who is a professional chef, prepared, as well as the decadent croissants, brioche and crepes available on just about every corner. It was totally worth it and I would do it again, weight gain and all. p.s. When I returned home from Paris, I was thinking and dreaming in french and would have to pause to translate everything to english when talking. That is no longer the case. Now, I speak really broken french and average english.
I love to read, watch movies and haven’t missed an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Apparently, I have an addiction to reality TV because my other favorite shows include Top Chef, Project Runway, The Voice and almost any cooking show. My favorite TV series of all time is Dawnson’s Creek. Don’t judge.
I have an older sister and a younger sister. They are the reason I suffer from middle child syndrome.
I am and always have been terrified of spiders. Only, they don’t seem so bad now that I live among the scorpions in Arizona.
I am an avid list maker and carry a notebook around in my purse so I have access to my various lists at all times. Yes, I’m aware it’s the digital age. I’m still old school.
When I was in high school, I thought I wanted to be a flight attendant, dentist or dancer (despite lack of training).
I once heard that if you write things down, they will manifest into reality. Plus, if it’s on the internet, it has to be true, right? So, I’d like to take this opportunity to say that I will win the lottery. 🙂
Why the name The Lovebugs Blog?
Lovebug is a term of endearment that I have long used for only the most important and special things in my life. It is not a label I give out lightly. The most obvious Lovebugs in my world are my children, which is why I refer to them as Lovebug and Littlebug in my posts. In terms of my blog, I gave it a lot of thought and consideration before I ever typed a word. So, when I was considering names, The Lovebugs Blog was a natural choice.
So, there you have it. I feel super close to you now that you know so much about me. It would be a little less awkward if I knew a little more about you. So, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks for stopping by! ~ Sam
